Beach Gallop for Experienced riders

Beach Riding Experience

The Beach Gallop usually leaves the stables at 10am and takes a hilltop route to the beach at Lochgilphead. Depending on the tide you may get to swim on horseback - an amazing experience. Includes lunch at local pub and returns 4-5pm.

What's included

The beach gallop is one of our most popular horse rides for the more experienced rider. This ride normally leaves the stables at around 10am, but this is very much dependant on the tide level. The route takes you over the hills with some fast varied riding, to the beach at Lochgilphead. A fast canter / gallop over the sands takes you to the water's edge.

Depending on the level of the tide we then either exit the beach just before the village of Ardrishaig, or enter the water at a canter, slowing down as the water deepens, before the horses finally launch out into a swim, heading for the Ardrishaig shore. It is an amazing and wonderful experience to swim on horseback!

Once landed, we go to the local pub for lunch leaving the horses suitably watered and fed in the carpark.

After lunch we head back to the hills and Brenfield. Again, depending on how long lunch takes(!) we aim to be back at base between 4pm and 5pm. We recommend booking the beach gallop at least a fortnight in advance, they are totally dependant on the tide. We try to run as many of these rides as possible as they are very popular and therefore book up quickly.

Voucher

Each voucher entitles one person to participate in this experience. The voucher is non-transferable, which means that only the person named on the voucher can use it. The voucher remains valid for bookings for 12 months from the date of purchase. Please contact the operator using the details printed on your voucher to arrange a date for your event.

PLEASE NOTE This ride is for Experienced/Very Experienced Riders only- as defined below.
Experienced - Someone who is competent and capable of a canter, and who has performed some galloping and jumping using correct aids.
V.Experienced - Someone who is competent and capable and can demonstrate the correct aids in all disciplines of horsemanship including jumping, and who is comfortable riding a forward going horse.
By its nature, riding is a strenuous demanding activity that requires the participants to be alert and in good health. Such conditions are necessary to safeguard the welfare of the horses and to ensure your personal safety, together with the safety of other riders, bystanders and property.

Booking your event

We recommend that you purchase your voucher and make a booking for your event at least one month prior to your chosen date. This is particularly important for weekend events.
