Opportunity for you and na friend to do something different on a summer's evening. After a 30 minute trek along the bridleway you will reach the local canal-side tavern for some welcome refreshments.
This experience will last a total of approx. 150 minutes with approx. 30 minutes in the saddle.
For something different in riding, why not try pub trekking on a summers evening. Set off from the Stables along the bridleway for a half hour trek to a local canal-side tavern. Once there, there will be a one and half hour break allowing time for food and drink.
The pub in question is the Dog and Doublet at Bodymoor Heath, a place name meaning Boda's moor. This intriguing pub name stems from the habit of adorning wildflowler dogs with a brightly coloured doublet similar to such a garment once worn by men.
With its picturesque waterside setting this popular 200 year old pub has featured in many canal publications and calenders and is an ideal place to take a break on our pub trek.
The most important item of clothing is your footwear. A boot or Wellington that has a slight heel, to catch the stirrup, is essential. For health and safety reasons trainers are not allowed. Riding boots and half chaps are ideal.
Leg wear must be comfortable. Whilst jeans are acceptable, they are sometimes rough and do not allow adequate leg movement.
Track suit bottoms or jodhpurs are preferable. On warm days, a T-shirt that covers the shoulders will be sufficient under the body protector. On colder days, a fleece or jacket over the body protector may be needed.
Riding gloves, to prevent the reins from slipping through your hands, are always a good idea.
